London Fashion Week

Friday, June 25th, 2010

With new and promising designers as well as the classics and regulars, this year ‘s Autumn/Winter 09 Fashion Week is set to turn heads, inspire and motivate clothing, shoes and accessory fashion trends around the world. Expect extravagant outfits, eye catching designs, inventive shoe lines and rousing winter trends at this years show; from Vivienne Westwood to Julien MacDonald this year is guaranteed to be as glamorous as ever.

This year, fashionistas can expect a heavily culturally inspired touch to Vivienne Westwood’s collection. From classical music, paintings and books, she seems to have been inspired by an, erm, older and more traditional England, so we expect her clothing and shoes range to be an adaptation of historical garment construction with a modern twist. It doesn’t stray far from her typical approach to designing, as she is renowned for using traditional British fabrics for her clothes and shoes, such as Irish linen, English flannel and Scottish Tartan. These traditional yet timeless fabrics and prints benefit from classic British manufacturing techniques, and have definitely given her a distinctive style over the years.

Vivienne Westwood’s name has almost become a house brand at LFW, and we look forward to seeing what culture inspired clothing and shoe lines she has in store for us this year.

London fashion week brings us young designers who always deliver fresh and funky styles of clothing and shoes.

Central St Martin’s students will be showing us fashion of the future.

The young talents from the arts university will be one of the highlights of LFW with new, creative and innovative collections.

Previous graduates from Central St Martins are those such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and John Galliano, so we have high expectations for the 2009 students at LFW.

Get ready for another amazing year of fabulous new fashion, from shoes, to clothes, to accessories, London Fashion week 2009 will be a week to remember.
